Syndicate that's Racing to Success

It’s been a fruitful time of late for the ever expanding Racing to Profit Syndicate who began their journey into racehorse ownership with us back in 2021.  Since then, their number of horses in training has gradually increased as has their number of winners.

Coolree got the ball rolling at Beverley on the 14th May under a truly titanic ride from Luke Morris.  Almost drawn in the field that sits next to the racetrack, Coolree jumped smartly and was gradually guided across by Luke to get a position in mid division.  Coming out of the home turn and up the Beverley hill the Morris drive was in full flow and he did not stop until Coolree found himself a length in front just as he arrived at the winning post.

It must be said that everything needs to go Coolree’s way for him to produce his best, but I would hope there are more future visits to the winner’s enclosure for him and his owners.

Nine days later, and it was the turn of Kaleb and Jack Quinlan to take the syndicate members into the winner’s enclosure.  This lad started his season with two fine second placed efforts at Plumpton and Sandown and then was handed some tougher assignments at Kempton and Cheltenham where he ran creditably without finishing in the places.  Next time out, he unseated his rider so we gave him a good break out in the paddock before returning to finish another heartbreaking  second at Southwell beaten by the narrowest of margins.  A month later he headed off to Market Rasen and despite having to carry top weight of 12 stone he powered clear of the field in the run in to get his first well deserved win of the season.

We have come to the conclusion that he runs best fresh so the long term plan right now is for him to head to the Galway Festival at the end of July/beginning of August with one run in between.

Another five days after Kaleb’s victory, it was the turn of Tequila Rose who got off the mark at only the second time of asking at Brighton.  Having shown plenty early on a home, she then went through a growth spurt, so we backed off her give to her the time she needed.  After an encouraging second placed debut at Catterick and positive feedback from Jason Hart, we decided that a step up to six furlongs would be more appropriate for her.  Although her win appeared to be done in workmanlike fashion, this was so typical of the filly as she is so laid back, she may as well be horizontal.  Saffie Osbourne did an incredible job of getting her in to pole position having been drawn wide on the notoriously undulating and cambered track.  There were also still signs of greenness from Tequila and she did incredibly well to regain her balance on the camber before getting down to business in the final furlong.

As always, there will be more to come from this filly with Black Type being the dream.
